Mediation costs are recognised to be significantly cheaper than the alternative of reaching agreement at court.

If you are eligible, Community Funding (legal aid) will pay for your sessions.We will discuss your availability for Community Funding at your assessment meeting where we will also explain what happens in mediation and answer any questions that you might have.

Generally mediation sessions lasts 1.5 hours. The number of sessions depends on the nature of the problems you and your former partner need to resolve.

It is usual for you to attend between 2 and 4 sessions. You will be asked for payment at the end of each session, unless you are eligible for Community funding the charges can be split between you both in any way you agree.
